Tour Match Report

The AEI forwards showed that with some go forward they were able to punch holes in the Lakenham defence and scored two further tries, one from Rory Macdonald after fine driving maul work and the second a flowing move mixing backs and forwards which ended when late replacement Jamie Barlow was able to barge over from close range with w...hat turned out to be the match-winning try.

The closeness of the result owed as much to the increasing weariness of the few AEI backs as the game progressed as it did to the ruthlessness which the Lakenham Hewett backs showed in some of the onfield mismatches.

The AEI would like to thank Lakenham Hewett RFC for their hospitality after the match and during the evening’s festivities as well as for their willingness to help even the sides by lending three of their players to the AEI when injuries could have left the AEI short-handed.
