Earlsdon III vs A.E.IA Flattering Score line. AEI - 8 Earlsdon – 21 In a game played in a good spirit at the Earlsdon club, AEI played an open style of play and despite dominating the line-outs and scrums were unable to secure a win to capitalise on their early form of the season. An early move from Earlsdon and a missed tackle from AEI allowed Earlsdon through the gap to score straight under the posts. The next 30 minutes belonged to AEI who set up camp in the opposition 22. This lead to a penalty converted by Mark Griffiths and then a try in the corner from Erwann Mauxion, who received a cute little pop from Jonathan Jenkins the stepped around the two outside Earlsdon players. Earlsdon were next to score when their fly half got his fingers onto a chip over the top to send the ball straight into the hands of his inside centres. The AEI plauers up too quickly in chase, the try line was wide open and Earlsdon were able to score under the post again. A revived Earlsdon came out strongly and attacked the line constantly but despite actually going over were unable to score, being held by Chris Clark, and Erwann Mauxion with Jonathan Jenkins sneaking underneath to spoil the try. The final score before half time going into the break 8-14 to Earlsdon. Possession was gain dominated by AEI in the second half but they were unable to score. A break from the AEI looked promising when the centre Mike Rodgers ran almost the full length of the field to be tackled just before the line, popping it back to Williams Beaumont but the ball spilled over the side line. With attack phase after attack the Earlsdon defence was spectacular. Just before the full time whistle, with AEI yet again on full flowing attack, a loose pass was intercepted and Earlsdon took the final score score of the game under the post. The Jolly Abbot man of the Match went to prop Jon Dye who was relentless in defence and troublesome to contain in attack. Vice captain Mark Griffiths, who took over the game when Peter Pritchard went off injured early in the game said: "We didn't deserve the score line today...It was a not a reflection of the actual game but at the end of the day Earlsdon were quicker to tehe loose ball and more aggressive in the rucks and mauls and that is what won it for them"
