A.E.I vs Coventry SaracensAEI Crusade Falters. AEI -11 Coventry Saracens – 24 On the second game of the season AEI went down to a young and exciting looking Saracens team. The 1st half was tightly contested with an opening try from Saracens as yet again the AEI failed to settle with early season jitters. AEI’s Irwin Maximus hit back with flanker Tim “fluffy” Edall putting good pressure on the fly-half causing a loose pass which in ensuing scrabble AEI’s Gaelic fly half was able to pick up and convert in the outside corner to much needed points. Saracens were next to score with a quick outside backs move from their new young winger, this was quickly followed by a penalty after Saracens forward pack pressure forced an error within kicking distance. After consistent pressure from the AEI forwards a penalty in front of the posts allowed Pinkesy to convent a penalty for AEI just before half time which had the teams going into the break 12-8. The second half saw a refreshed Saracens on constant attack, Tim Edall and Martin Holah defended well earning Tim the Jolly Abbott man of the match title. Despite being camped on Saracens line for over 20 minutes the AEI were unable to break the defence when against all play the Saracens outside broke the length of the pitch to score. Again with AEI on attack Saracens were able to intercept a loose chip to knock up the final score of the match. Team captains Pete Pritchard said “I think we played well, the Welsh imports were particularly impressive in defence but we were just unable to break the line, we will be back next week stronger, with players returning from injury, and focusing on the winning the ball from the 1st minute of the game” |
