A.E.I vs Dunlop II

AEI deflates Dunlop

AEI 36

Dunlop 19

Despite a strong opening from the Dunlop pack they were sent reeling very early in the game when Lee Clark received a infield kick, with strong running he broke through, passing out, then receiving the ball back in a classic one two move to score the opening try. Dunlop bounced back well with a converted try to go ahead by two but then Markus “Army” Clarke crashed through for a try to be converted by Richard (Pinky) Pinks. Prop forward Jade Williams chipped over the top, Daniel Grewcock followed up to pressure the receiver forcing a quick kick to go well short. From the resulting line out Peter Pritchard was able to steal the ball, feeding out to the back with Paul Eaton going over in the corner. The try was converted again by Pinky. When the forward pack of Dunlop tyred AEI were able to start to dominate however first Dave Williams was yellow carded for “hands in the ruck” then 3 minutes later Army Clarke went off for a late tackle leaving only 13 AEI players on the pitch. Half time score 19 – 7.

Dunlop was first to score after the break with a push over try which went un-converted. With only 13 men AEI continued on the defensive, trending lightly, until a full team returned to the field then quickly vulcanised as a huge forwards push fed good ball though slick hands to winger Paul Eaton for a try in the corner. Markus Clarke was next under the post and with 10 minutes to go AEI bought on two new wingers to booster the side, however it was Dunlop who scored next in the far corner. AEI were quick to reply when almost immediately from the kick off Tim Edall broke down the wing to feed to ball out to Erwann Maximus for the final try of the game to bring the final score to 36 – 19.

Jolly Abbot Man of the match title went to Lee Clark who said “Another good win for AEI in what is a Goodyear so far, 5 wins out of seven. I think the forwards were determined and thanks to their hard work we were able to puncture the defence almost every time. We should be disappointed with our discipline, as we could have thrown the game away. Although I think a few of the calls were harsh before next week in the cup game we will need to learn to play to the ref.”

An AEI Attack with Lee Clark, Mike Rodgers watching Lee's back =:o) , Pinky ball in hand and Tim "fluffy" Udall bursting to Pinky's back.
